We often get requests from students or those with an interest in sports nutrition, they say it is their passion and it is what they want to do for the rest of their life etc.  It's great that they have found something that they are interested in and are passionate about. 

Getting a job in that field and turning it into a full time income is something else.

Often these people just fire out a duplicated message, with just the name at the top of the block of text changed.
Often no reference is made to the expert, the field in which the expert operates or anything.
 

The message is all about what they want from the EXPERT and what the expert can give to the intern, instead of what they the intern can bring to the table.

If you are seeking a position as an intern and you don't have the cash to pay for an internship then.

Here are some skills that would be useful to any sports professional that you way want to target.

Social Media  - You may be a whizz on Facebook or Twitter. You might be ale to help the professional grow his list of followers.

Research - Every sports professional needs to keep up with the latest research, if you like research and are good at it then you  could assist an expert in this area.

Power Point – Take information and format it into a power point presentation

Article Writing – Write and rewrite articles

Editing – Often we are writing books and new content these need proofing and editing

Identifying sites for guest posts – There are many sites where it would be advantageous to have a guest blog post

Alternatively follow the story below from a well known internet marketer Ed Dale, who shares a story of how you can become a expert in the internet marketing field..

Ed tells the story of how he got started in marketing and a lot of this can apply to a carrer in sports.

I did not have a stellar start to my entrepreneurial career. I left college after attending a couple of classes in a two year period and decided to run a Motor Sport Magazine.

Genius.

There's a variation of an old joke I often tell – “How do you make a small fortune?”

“Start with a large fortune and publish a magazine” [1]

Trouble was, I didn't start with a large fortune.

Long story short, that little exercise left me with a pile of debt to pay off.

The first job I took was selling advertising at local newspaper in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne.

I hated it. Consequently, I wasn't good at it either!

After stressing myself out of my head. I had a stunning revelation.

“Hey Genius! Why don't you sell something you love!”

OK at this stage you may have decided that it's sports nutrition
or strength and conditioning, watever your what is.

This will come as an astounding shock to you, but the thing I loved more than anything was Apple Computers and the Macintosh.

I know, so surprising.

So, instead of waiting for a job opportunity to arise, I wrote a letter (In hindsight, probably my first sales letter!) offering to work for various Apple resellers for free and sent it attached to a bottle of wine. A week later I was employed at Business Computers Of Australia. [2]

Long story short – I sold boat loads of Mac's, I loved them, I could sell them, I was having fun.

Which brings me to “Getting Paid To Train”.

Here's the thing.

You want to get started in your chosen field of sport whether it be nutrition, strength and conditioning it doesn't really matter.

Get a job (or make a Job) doing some sort of marketing, admin or promotions.

And here's the thing.

Rather than working in something in a completely different direction “working for the man”. You are getting paid to do something that will directly help your future online business!

I know it's totally against guru school laws to encourage you to get/make a job instead of striking out on your own and “Burn The Ships” .

I'm not a big fan of “Burning The Ships”.

The Fallacy Of The Miracle Moment

After seven years of The Challenge and my mentoring practice. I've realised something else…

The idea that becomes your ticket to transition – from job to captain of your own ship – does not come before you start the work. It comes out of doing the work. The fact you're getting paid to do it gives you the incentive to turn up and practice every day.

Light bulb moments happen in movies.

In the real world the best ideas sneak up on you after you are FRUSTRATED. You get frustrated by working the system, actively searching for an answer seemingly out of reach. It's the build of genuine frustration thats gets your subconscious on the job.

This is not “Woo-Woo” stuff. This is Hard Science.[4]

You do not become an Aikido expert by sitting in the parents section of the dojo, you have to get on the mat and do the basic moves thousands upon thousands of times.

You need to learn our trade. Actually, scratch that, you need to practice our trade. it's the actual build up of energy and frustration through effort that will give you your breakthrough.

It's that simple, It's that hard.

Personality traits of winning entrepreneuers

This is from a blog post form an Irish guy called Chris Munch, I have purchased a number of his products he has some great ideas and is doing a great job marketing them.

It's made me think about what I am doing, I have printed this off and added it to my journal. I think over time I will create my own version, that will be another distraction to do that now but for now I'll use his.

I imagine that these traits are also true of winning sports people as well! What do you think?

The personality traits of winning entrepreneurs. Do you pass the test?

1. The winners set launch dates, deadlines and aggressive goals like releasing a new product/update/offer every two weeks. They may miss, but they try hard to hit them.
2. The winners focus on this one project with pinpoint precision. They make more money because they can say no to pursuing other projects. That makes sticking to #1 much easier.
3. The winners don’t focus on perfection and are more focused on getting something good out there quickly, that getting something perfect out there sometime in the distant future.
4. The winners accept “flops” as inevitable, and embrace the “flop”. They know their early attempts probably won’t do great, so it is important to get those early attempts done and dusted as quickly as possible.
5. The winners hunt out their mistakes. This is against our natural emotion to accept we did things wrong but it is vitally important to improve. The winners know that mistakes are normal and are not wrong at all. They hunt out what they did wrong so they can improve next time.
6. The winners say “If they can do it so can I”, and they find out how they did it. They network, analyze, scrutinize, and reverse engineer to find out why someone else did better than they did.
7. They focus on a few USPs (unique selling propositions) and copy the rest from other winners.
8. The winners focus on extending their strengths (after identifying them) and rely on using or copying others in areas they are weak.
9. The winners hunt out successful people they can learn from and put a big effort into networking.
10. The winners are generous to their partners and stakeholders. They pay generous commissions, good wages, share profits and help others. Their generosity stands out against the competition. This motivates their partners and creates opportunities.
11. The winners focus on marketing more than the product/idea/service. In fact the marketing drives the product creation.
12. The winners block out distractions and set time aside to get things done. They are disciplined to turn off email, chat, television and any other distractions that stop them from working.

The Losers…

1. The losers drift and don’t held themselves to deadlines or targets. Ask the loser when his next deadline is and he won’t know.
2. The losers can’t say no to shiny objects and have a lot of projects on the go and find it too hard to abandon any one project to focus more on others. Quite simply they can’t focus.
3. The losers focus on perfection. They want everything ‘just right’ for when they make that all important launch. Perfection takes a long time and they miss opportunities and the learning process from launching NOW!
4. The losers fear the flop. So much so that they may never launch, and if they do they may hide away or seek to blame others and not accept responsibility when things don’t go to plan.
5. The losers are stubborn and don’t want to be shown their mistakes. They want to prove to the world that what they did was right, and that it was others that were wrong. They’ll even go as far as calling their customers stupid for not buying their product. They will be very reluctant to change.
6. The losers look at the winners and make excuses about why they can’t do what the winners have done. Instead of looking for ways to emulate the winners, they hunt out differences which they can identify as excuses for not being a winner.
7. Losers forget about having any USPs at all and just try to copy someone else (and do a worse job). Just as common in losers is that they think they must do things differently to all the winners to stand out, and that doing this gives them a USP. So they choose not to do everything that the winners do to be “unique” and “clever”, and fail at the same time.
8. The losers focus on trying to handle and be good at everything, and are reluctant to put their weaknesses in the hands of others.
9. The losers avoid talking with successful people, or agitate successful people, because they don’t take advice and criticism well. Just being around successful people depresses them rather than motivates them because it shows that they have made mistakes and need to change, so they avoid it.
10. The losers are greedy. They don’t want to share their profits and success with others and will offer lower commissions, wages, profit share and less help to others. They ultimately alienate themselves from opportunities.
11. The losers focus on their product foremost and marketing second. They may produce an awesome product, but without solid marketing it flops.
12. The losers are easily distracted. In fact they unconsciously routine their day to have distractions like email alerts, chat, television, news, chores, phone calls etc. so they don’t have to face the music. They invite distraction rather than actively take steps to block it out. Even though these distractions lower their quality of life and stop them from achieving their dreams, they will defend them like a drug addict.

That last one is my killer I become too easily distracted it's timne to put that right.

All you need to do is to

1 Get your Powerpoint on your screen

2 Record yourself delivering the presentation as you would to an audience ( I use Camtasia Screen recording Software there is a free 30 day trial)

3 You then have a video of your presentation

4 You can sell the video as is

5 Have it transcribed and converted into  a PDF Report

6 Incorporate the slides into the PDF transcription and produce it as a physical book that can be sold on Amazon NICE!

All this can be done post production all you need to do is to be able to sit down in front of your computer and record your screen.

Letting people find you.

This might be as simple as having your own domain name and a simple 2-3 page website on it. It's always a good idea to get your
own domain name if it is available. I got my son's name just as he was born.

If someone mention your name to someone else the first thing they are going to do if they are interested in your field is to 'google' you. What comes up now?

At the end of the day the best way to ensure that you detemine what comes up is to have your own domain name.

Building a database

Once people are finding you, it's important to start collecting their e-mail addresses so that now or at some point in the future you
can start or continue to build a relationship with them. You may want to promote a service or sell them a product.

Promoting a product or service

First you have to create a product or service, if you are a coach then it might just be promoting your coaching service.

Creating and Selling an online product

This one takes a bit more thought and planning.

is there a need or demand for the product, what format is your product going to be, a PDF, Video Series, Physical book.

Creating a Membership site

This can be the holy grail in providing residual income, what if you had only 500 people paying you £10 a month. That's going to take care of most mortgage repayments.

The Torpedo shaft has been developed by Dr Paul Hurrion owner of Quintic Biomechanics Consultancy. .

I was visiting with Dr Hurrion last week and he introduced me to the Torpedo Golf shaft, in his putting lab in Coventry, England ( the same town that Jaguar Cars are made in).

I had been testing one of his other putting tools soon to be released that gives precise feedback on putting accuracy. I was pulling my putts consistantly to the left,

he said try this and handed me the torpedo shafted putter.

He claimed that it increased the sweet spot and made badly hit puts go straight, I was sceptical to say the least. I picked up the putter had no practice swing and had a putt.

It wasn’t intentional but it was a bad swing, the type that on the backswing you know that it is wrong but you dont have the guts to stop. Anyway I followed through and completed the putt and to my amazement it went dead straight.

I said ‘ that cannot be right, using that shaft cannot be fair’ , Paul said it is and it has been approved by the relevant authorities.
